Shilpa Kunnappillil (she/her) is a documentary editor and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. She is currently editing a feature documentary about the rise of Hindu nationalism in India. Most recently, she was an editor on the feature documentary Homegrown, which premiered in the Critic’s Week section of the 2024 Venice Film Festival. She also edited the feature documentary A Beast Touch the Mountain, which premiered at the 2025 Saint Augustine Film Festival. Previously, she has worked as an associate and assistant editor on documentaries that have premiered at Sundance, Tribeca, DOCNYC, etc. She is a 2024 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellow and has also received support from Firelight Media and NeXt Doc for her directing work.

Shilpa is interested in working on films that center stories from marginalized communities, incite systemic change, and excavate the political from the personal.
