Shilpa Kunnappillil (she/her) is a documentary editor and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. She is currently editing a feature-length documentary about an Appalachian community fighting the construction of a gas pipeline on their land. Previously, she has worked as an associate and assistant editor on documentaries that have premiered at Sundance, SXSW, DOCNYC, etc., and have streamed on HBO, PBS, Paramount+, and more.

She is also directing a feature-length documentary set in India, for which she was named a 2019-2021 Firelight Media Documentary Lab fellow and a 2019 NeXt Doc fellow.

She’s a fan of Prospect Park, earl grey tea, and taking the scenic route.
